By Jak Burke,
Your NYC Neighbor – is a way of introducing New Yorkers to a rich community of savvy parents. New York is a diverse City bustling with all kinds of families and personalities. We also love to grab tips and recommendations from moms and dads in certain neighborhoods and throughout the 5 Boroughs, and especially people who have created a product, service or site that helps new parents or appeals to children. Meet Maryanne Saunders founder of Spacemakers Organizing.
Tell us a bit about yourself?
I was born and raised in northern New Jersey and discovered NYC when I was a teen. I ended up graduated from NYU and I have lived in the city for over 25 years. I spent most of my career on Wall Street as an Institutional Equity Sales Trader and after the financial collapse in 2008, I found myself looking in a new direction. After helping some of my friends and family with various projects, I decided to start my own home organizing business.
Where do you live?
I have lived on the Upper West Side since the early 90’s.
Why do you love living there?
I love living here because I am close to both Central Park and Riverside Park. It feels like a real neighborhood here and t is easy to get to any part of the city.
What do you do?
I am a professional home organizer. My company is SpaceMakers Organizing.
Why do you enjoy what you do?
It feels great helping my clients reach their goals and they have such a sense of accomplishment when a project is completed. It is as if they can finally breath in their space when the clutter is gone and everything has a place.
What’s unique about your service/biz?
I offer a personal touch and I really enjoy working with people. My clients trust me to come up with workable solutions for their storage needs.
The business is growing and I am working with more and more busy families who are trying to minimize the clutter and keep their homes in some kind of order. Families living in New York City have the added challenge of very limited living space and I work with them to create workable solutions for their living and storage space.
