Your NYC Neighbor – is a way of introducing New Yorkers to a rich community of savvy parents and business owners. New York is a diverse City bustling with all kinds of families and personalities. We also love to grab tips and recommendations from moms and dads in certain neighborhoods and throughout the 5 Boroughs, and especially people who have created a product, service or site that helps new parents. Meet Corrine Marcello of Babyganics (NYC).
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I grew up on Long Island and I’ve always loved everything it has to offer – beaches, proximity to NYC, great food (although I could live without the traffic). After college, I spent a year in Boston but then landed a job in marketing at Avon Products based in New York.
So I moved into Manhattan, had a great time during my single life, and finally met my husband a few years later (on a blind date!). Long story short, we’re back on Long Island with a 2-year-old boy and a rescue dog – and very much enjoying life!
Where do you live?
We recently moved to a town called West Islip on Long Island. We had been living in Long Beach for several years, but after our house flooded twice, it was time to pack up and move on.
Why do you love where you live?
We’re closer to family now, which is very helpful when you have a child. We’re still settling in but it’s fun exploring a new place and uncovering some great local finds!
What do you currently do?
For the past year and a half, I’ve been working at Babyganics as a Brand Activation Manager. I mainly work in the field – visiting stores & working with store associates, partnering with other companies that share our beliefs and passion for providing the best options for families, and working at mom & baby related events all over the NY area!
What’s cool about your job?
There are many things I love about this job! My days are always different so it keeps things exciting & new. Plus I get to talk to so many other moms – we share stories, tips and tricks, life experiences. Parenthood is quite an adventure, so it’s great to have a network of parents at my fingertips.
Last but not least, Babyganics is a very genuine company. It’s pretty small so everyone knows each other and treats each other like a 2nd family. We’re all parents (or at least aunts & uncles!) and everyone truly cares about the products we make. It’s such a positive & supportive environment, so I feel very lucky to be a part of it.
What’s next for Babyganics in NYC?
We recently launched a program called the Shower Squad, where you can go onto the website showersquad.com and nominate an expectant Mom or Dad for a chance to win a visit from the Babyganics Shower Squad! We’ll surprise them with all the baby-safe essentials they’ll need right from day one.
We also have several big events lined up in and around New York City – from Baby Fairs at some of our local retailers to larger events like the New York Baby Show in May. To get more information on where we’ll be and when, follow me at @babyganicsNYC on Twitter and Instagram, which provides information specific to the NY/NJ area.
If you’re in Union Square over the next couple months, pop in to see our huge display at the entrance of Babies R Us. You may just run into me while you’re there, so come say hello!
