5 Reasons Why a Stroller is a Must Have Item for New Parents

A Guest Post by Evelyn Taylor of Mommystroller,

There is no doubt that strollers make everyday life easier on us parents. As a mother of three, I have quickly learned the importance of having a stroller readily available in our family van; after all, you never know when a stroller might come in handy. In this article, I’ll go over the top five reasons why a stroller is essential if you have children – doesn’t matter if you have one or multiple children.

Safety and Security

Many parents in my local community share the same frustration:

Life does not stop when you have a child.

Indeed, parenting require a significant amount of patience and effort. There are always places that we want to go and places that we want to take our children to. When visiting crowded areas or events, strollers allow parents to have order and some peace of mind. You can buckle your child in the stroller and have a sense of security knowing that they are right in front of you and not lagging behind, getting lost in the crowd.

In fact, one of the rules I came up with early in my parenthood journey was to not even think about going into a crowded areas if I had two kids on the ground running around. A simple solution to this was to have a double stroller. Now, with our own double stroller, crowded events that would have made me pull out my hair is just a walk in the park.

Experiencing the Outdoors with Your Kids

Speaking of a walk in the park, strollers enable you to more easily take walks at parks and explore the outdoors. When your kids are really little, it can be hard to get out and get exercise. Fortunately, nowadays, with strollers that are suitable for newborns, all you have to do is strap the kid(s) onto the stroller seat and you’re ready to get some sun and enjoy the great outdoors. Jogging strollers which are designed for outdoor use and on uneven terrain also can be used with car seats, which make them suitable for newborns.

Less Carrying and More Pushing

As time pass, you quickly realize how fast your kids actually grow. For example, most kids weigh about 20 lbs at 1 year old and about 30 lbs by 3 years old.  If you know anything about children, you know that they love to be carried. However, carrying a twenty to thirty pound child for thirty minutes is no easy task as you will likely start to feel a burning sensation in your arms and your back might even start aching. Strollers are a great way to relieve that weight which means less carrying and more pushing for parents.

Storage Space on the Go

Kids love going to zoos and amusement parks. If you’re a parent yourself, you’ll know that visits to these types of places quickly turn into all day events. From diapers and wipes, to jackets, drinks, and snacks, there is a lot of stuff that you need to bring along with you.

If you have multiple children, it is almost a necessity to have to pack a mule. Since I don’t have a mule, and frankly don’t like mules, it is a must to have a stroller. There are usually quite a decent amount of storage space in the basket below the stroller seat for you to store your stuff. Not to mention, the cup holders and parent tray accessories that come with most strollers.

Charity Runs

I truly believe that most of us are charitable at heart and want to get out and help out our favorite causes. When a 5K fun run comes up, you don’t have to write a check, give up or stay on the couch. You can get out there and give back by participating, with your kid(s). Most charity events will allow you to run with your kids in a jogging stroller if you inform the organizers beforehand.

Closing Words

Strollers are one of those baby products that I consider a must have. Whether you’re running errands, traveling around the world, participating in a charitable event, or in general, just want to keep your sanity, having a st

roller makes everything much more manageable and convenient.
